Netflix is putting together the popular anti-heroes into one action-packed crime drama, Marvel’s The Defenders, starring Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and Finn Jones. With an all-star team, get ready to binge on an ambitious eight-episode miniseries event.
Burdened with their own personal challenges, Matt Murdock aka Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand aka The Iron Fist (Finn Jones) realize they can’t continue working solo anymore. They need to work together in order to stop a bigger threat and save New York. After working on their own for so long, can these loners and rebels work together as a team?
Here are 5 reasons why you should watch The Defenders on Netflix:
5) It’s Been Building Since Day One!
Daredevil kicked off the franchise-building with the Boardwalk Empire actor playing the devil of Hell’s Kitchen. Each series has been great standing on its own and Luke Cage is my personal favorite of the four. I’m really looking forward to the seeing the interactions between a great ensemble cast.
4) The Punisher!
The teasers hinted at an appearance by Frank Castle aka The Punisher (Jon Bernthal). In The Secret Defenders comics, Punisher worked together side-by-side with Doctor Strange, Sleepwalker, and Namorita in the two-parter, Roadkill. Now on the TV show, how bad does it have to get that the group needs to drop a bomb like The Punisher in order to save the day?
3) Hallway Fight Scene!
Have you noticed each series has at least one hallway scene, where the main star fights a team of henchmen? Daredevil has done this type of action sequence twice in one seemingly extended take. Jessica Jones and Luke Cage have had to pull their punches because they don’t want their superpowers to kill anybody. Now what would happen if they had to face an unstoppable force such as The Hand?
2) Sigourney Weaver!
Sigourney Weaver is a badass all her own as Ellen Ripley in the Alien franchise. And now she’s playing the Big Bad in The Defenders! I’m sorry but they don’t have a chance!
1) The Showrunners
If you loved Daredevil Season 2, that’s because of showrunners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez. Now that they have Daredevil and The Punisher down pat, I’m really interested in seeing how they put their stamp on the other characters.
Marvel’s The Defenders airs on Netflix August 18, 2017.
