In their spell-binding mystery, Jordie Bellaire and Vanesa R. Del Rey bring a tantalizing mix of murder and dark magic to Redlands #2 (Image Comics). A riveting thriller, horror fans will definitely get their desserts from this chilling issue.
As we previously mentioned, the first installment introduces readers to the sleepy, sunny town of Redlands, Florida. The police are failing to maintain control of their old-fashioned town. Their problems are just starting though. A coven of killer witches plan to take everything from them.
Here are 5 reasons why you should read Redlands #2:
5) A Deadly Cat & Mouse Game!

The second installment follows the bloodthirsty matriarchal force running the town of Redlands, Florida. But in order to stay on top, sacrifices must be made. Someone is bent on removing these witches from power. The serial killer is eager to outwit the detectives as he threatens to unleash their darkest secret.
4) Southern Gothic At Its Best!
Writer Jordie Bellaire explores more of the chilling atmosphere from the Southern Gothic tale. Take a close look at Bellaire’s color palette and you’ll notice the sun never rises in Redlands. The narrative continues with its biting social commentary, taking aim at misogyny and sexual predators.
3) The Trio!

Now we get to learn more about the coven of killer witches, who were introduced at the end of the first installment. Ro, Bridget, and Alice are each given three different character designs. I really liked how Del Rey individualizes each female protagonist with their own wardrobe and hair stye.
2) The Chilling Artwork!
Making great use of its grim tone, artist Vanesa R. Del Rey captures a compelling police procedural. Ro, Bridget, and Alice are always bantering back and forth. Del Rey makes sure the three share the same panel and has each character stand in for the background, the foreground, and the middle ground. Notice how letterer Clayton Cowles changes fonts between the three leads and the serial killer.
