WGN America has announced the premiere date for the international political/crime thriller, Shoot The Messenger, starring Elyse Levesque (Orphan Black) and Lucas Bryant (Haven). Audiences will find themselves on the edge-of-their seats as our stars uncover a scandalous cover-up that could bring down the government.
As we previously mentioned, Shoot the Messenger follows Daisy Channing (Elyse Levesque), a young reporter trying to balance her messy personal life with a burgeoning professional career. Things begin to go sideways for Daisy when she witnesses an actual murder. What was supposed to be a gang related crime turns into an interconnected web of criminal and illicit sexual activity. Her investigation will reach into the dark corridors of corporate and political power.
Here are 5 reasons why we’re excited for the premiere of Shoot The Messenger:
5) Elyse Levesque!
Making a name for herself among sci-fi fans, Elyse Levesque demonstrated her charm and prowess as Chloe Armstrong in the Syfy series Stargate Universe. She then played a witch on the CW’s popular supernatural drama, The Originals. I really believe Levesque will definitely do wonders and amaze viewers in the lead role.
4) Haven Fans!
Who else loved every episode of Haven!?! Back on a new show, Lucas Bryant now plays Daisy’s sexy co-worker Simon Olenski.
3) The Doctor’s In the House!
It’s the biggest story of her life and she’s right in the middle of it. #ShootTheMessenger premieres February 26th on @WGNAmerica. pic.twitter.com/C6GiwaaSaG

Doctor Who fans will absolutely follow Alex Kingston anywhere she goes. I’m very interested in seeing what Kingston does as Daisy’s editor, Mary Foster. Kingston already delivers the best line in trailer, “I hope I don’t have to write your obituary.”
2) It’s Getting Hot In Here!
Lead homicide detective Kevin Lutz is played by Lyriq Bent. Based on the footage, it looks like things are going to get hot and steamy between Kevin and Daisy!
1) Relevant To Our Times!
Because the journalism aspects of the hows reminds me of a gritty Spotlight, I’m very interested in seeing Shoot the Messenger. The eight-episode miniseries is co-created by Jennifer Holness and Sudz Sutherland. As lead director on the series, Sutherland dives into the narrative with social commentary, crime, and procedural into a single scene.
Shoot the Messenger will premiere Monday February 26, 2018 at 10:00 p.m. ET / 9:00 p.m. CT on WGN America.
