WGN America has released the teaser trailer for the international political/crime thriller, Shoot The Messenger, starring Elyse Levesque (Orphan Black) and Lucas Bryant (Haven). Audiences will find themselves on the edge-of-their seats as our stars uncover a scandalous cover-up that could bring down the government.

As we previously mentioned, Shoot the Messenger follows Daisy Channing (Elyse Levesque), a young reporter trying to balance her messy personal life with a burgeoning professional career.  Things begin to go sideways for Daisy when she witnesses an actual murder. What was supposed to be a gang related crime turns into an interconnected web of criminal and illicit sexual activity. Her investigation will reach into the dark corridors of corporate and political power.

5) Elyse Levesque!

Making a name for herself among sci-fi fans, Elyse Levesque demonstrated her charm and prowess as Chloe Armstrong in the Syfy series Stargate Universe. She then played a witch on the CW’s popular supernatural drama, The Originals. I really think Levesque will definitely do wonders and amaze viewers in the lead role.

4) Haven Fans!

I hope I am definitely one of many fans who loved every sing minute of Haven! Back on a new show, Lucas Bryant now plays Daisy’s sexy co-worker Simon Olenski.

3) Doctor Who!

Doctor Who fans will absolutely follow Alex Kingston anywhere she goes. Because the journalism aspects of the hows reminds me of a gritty Spotlight, I’m very interested in seeing Kingston’s take as Daisy’s editor, Mary Foster. Will Foster prove to be an ally or a rival in Daisy’s investigation?

2) The Creative Team!

Shoot the Messenger is produced by Jennifer Holness and Victoria Woods for Hungry Eyes Film & Television Inc. in association with CBC Television and ITV Studios Global Entertainment. The eight-episode miniseries is co-created by Jennifer Holness and Sudz Sutherland.  As lead director on the series, Sutherland brings in elements of social commentary, crime, and reporting into a single scene.

1) Relevant To Our Times!

In an interview with Global News, Sutherland describes the inspiration of the drama, “We wanted to actually explore these relationships between people who are super rich and political people with political power and people who are business leaders but have these skeletons in their closet.”

Shoot the Messenger will air on WGN America sometime in 2018.
