After taking the main stage at the recent New York Comic Con, Hulu will soon premiere their new highly anticipated sci-fi teen drama, Marvel’s Runaways. Teen angst takes a twisted turn especially when the parents are the bad guys with superpowers.

As we previously mentioned, based on the popular comic book by writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Adrian Alphona, the series follows super-powered teens rebelling against their super-villain parents. Every teenager thinks their parents are evil. These 6 teenagers are about to discover that their folks actually are.

Here are 5 why we’re excited to watch Marvel’s Runaways on Hulu:

5) Hulu’s Taking Over!

Hulu has been consistent with their edgy original dramas, such as 11.22.63, but The Handmaid’s Tale took the on demand service on a whole new playing field. The Handmaid’s Tale put Hulu on the map with its winning streak at the recent Emmy awards. And now Hulu has adapted a popular Marvel title for their growing audience.

4) The Adults In The Cast!

After playing the same vampire in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, James Marsters will now play Victor Stein, the father of Chase Stein (Gregg Sulkin). I loved Julian McMahon in Nip/Tuck, so I can’t wait to see him play Jonah. Possibly a new character made specifically for the live-action series, Jonah is a pivotal player in the Runaways’ rebellion against their parents.

3) The New Kids On The Block!

Rhenzy Feliz will play Alex Wilder, the brilliant child prodigy. Lyrica Okano is Nico Minoru is the team’s witch. Virginia Gardner plays Karolina Dean, the teenager from outer space. Ariela Barer is Gert Yorkes, the telepath with a link to the dinosaur, Old Lace. Gregg Sulkin plays Chase Stein, the team’s reluctant mad scientist/inventor. Allegra Acosta is Molly (Hernandez) Hayes, a teen with superhuman strength.

2) Pride & Joy!

The footage to the pilot appears to be following Vaughan and Alphona’s first volume, entitled Pride And Joy. It’ll be interested to see what showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage follow from the comics and where they make their changes for the upcoming 10 episodes.

1) It’s Gossip Girls With Superpowers!

With all the sexy flings, teen drama, and adult affairs that Gossip Girls was known for, creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage can now add superhero action with Marvel’s Runaways! I can’t wait to see this show!

Marvel’s Runaways premieres with 3 back-to-back episodes on Hulu November 21, 2017.
