After a critically acclaimed first season, USA Network continues The Sinner with Season 2, Episode 6: Part 6, starring Bill Pullman and Carrie Coon. Detective Harry Ambrose (Pullman) returns to his hometown to solve another whydunit mystery.
In the prison, Julian (Elisha Henig) has been hurting himself and needs to be sedated. Vera (Carrie Coon) is shocked when he cannot even utter a single word coherently. Harry and Heather are still at odds with each other since he has been fired.
In the flashbacks, Marin (Hannah Gross) has given birth to Julian in the Moonwood community. Vera has to be the boy’s mother because Marin doesn’t want him around. Marin doesn’t even seem to care that Vera is breastfeeding Julian.
Following a Moonwood member, Harry breaks into his building and discovers he is also being followed. Moonwood happens to everything about his past, even his previous cases. The thief even has a confessional tape that was stolen from records.
Harry ends up sending Heather the confessional video. Harry wants to know the whole truth from Vera about the truth behind Moonwood. Vera agrees to tell him everything if he will help Julian get out of the prison.
The truth is, Lionel’s therapeutic sessions have been getting increasing violent. Marin has taken most of the beatings, even while she was pregnant. Lionel wants to take the session even further and refuses to go back.
In the flashback, Vera discovers Lionel wants to sacrifice baby Julian in a ceremony. Vera tries to stall the ceremony, but Lionel ends up taking the baby away from Vera. The last time she sees him, Vera served him a hot cup of tea.
At the river, the police have discovered the remains of a dead woman. Heather assumes the body belongs to Marin. Harry meets the prosecutor, who happens to be a Moonwood member, and threatens to reveal the truth unless Julian’s charges are lessened.
Harry meets with Julian at the foster home. He reveals his traumatic childhood when Julian asks if the guilt ever goes away. Because he is mother was sick, Harry started the fire but he never intended to burn down the house.
In the middle of the night, Julian is kidnapped by a mysterious figure.
Season 2 of The Sinner continues Wednesdays at 10pm on USA Network.
