AMC has announced the highly anticipated Season 8 premiere date for The Walking Dead. After surviving the past seven seasons against the undead, the popular zombie apocalypse drama returns for its 100th episode milestone.
After the shocking events of the seventh season finale, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) has declared war against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Alexandria has joined with the survivors of the Hilltop and the Kingdom against Sanctuary. After the loss of crucial members of his team, Rick is ready for some payback against Negan and the Saviors. According to Variety, key art has been released in anticipation of the AMC show’s annual panel at San Diego Comic-Con in Hall H July 21st.
Here are 5 reasons we’re excited for Season 8 of The Walking Dead:
5) New Trailer?
Last year, at San Diego Comic Con, AMC presented the thrilling cold opening to the seventh season premiere. In the footage, Negan continued his threats against Rick after brutally beating Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham (Ross Marquand), with his bat, Lucille. What will AMC present this time around at SDCC? We’re very excited to find out!
4) We’re Going To MLK Park!
Across from the San Diego Convention Center, AMC presents an interactive experience at MLK Park. The outdoor activation space takes place Thursday July 19th through Saturday, July 22nd, (from 11am to 7pm PST) and Sunday, July 23rd (from 11am to 4pm PST).
3) The Secret Agent?
When we lat saw Dwight, he revealed to Rick, Daryl (Norman Reedus), and the others what Negan was planning. Unfortunately, Dwight never told them that Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) and her junkyard community were secretly working for the Saviors’ leader. Was Dwight caught by surprise or did he know the entire time?
2) The Big Bad!
Everyone’s afraid of Negan but you should really be afraid of Eugene (Josh McDermitt). I think Euguene has succumbed to the dark side and will step up as the new Big Big Bad in the upcoming eighth season.
1) All Out War!
In the seventh season finale, Negan was gathering his troops at his Sanctuary base. Eugene is by his side and he knows how to make the necessary bullets. An alliance has formed between Rick, Maggie (Lauren Cohan), and Ezekiel (Khary Payton), but is their tiger enough to take down the Saviors?
Season 8 of The Walking Dead premieres October 22, 2017 on AMC.
