Daughter Dismay, IMAX

Sodom & Chimera Productions present the official teaser for Daughter of Dismay, the first narrative short to be shot in 70mm IMAX. Before premiering on the festival circuit, check out the moody and chilling footage about the world of witchcraft and occultism.

An emotionally broken witch enters the darkness of the woods to fulfill her biggest desire. She takes extreme and radical measures that will have sinister consequences. Portrayed in elegant painting-like images, The film is an epic, moving and emotional trip through a world of witchcraft and occultism, leading to a heartbreaking and melancholic finale.

Here are 5 reasons why we love the Daughter of Dismay trailer:

5) The Crew

Daughter of Dismay is directed by James Quinn (Flesh of the Void) and produced by Justin Schenck (Fox’s The Exorcist)/ The behind the scenes talent including composer Joseph Bishara (The Conjuring), Kodak award-winning director of photography Ben Brahem Ziryab (The Negative), sound engineer Steve Maslow (The Thing) and foley artist Martin Langenbach (The Autopsy of Jane Doe).

4) A Different Kind!

Like in the comic book realm of Wytches, expect a different kind of witch. Don’t expect a witch with green skin and flying around on a broomstick. This isn’t a cliched depictions but audiences will see a much deeper and more human side.

3) Part of a Spectacle!

Director James Quinn states, “There’s a certain magic about seeing something on actual film on the big screen, especially in 70mm. I was always extremely interested in this epic aspect of movies, where you don’t just go to watch something, but actually experience the entire movie to a point that’s almost physical, as part of a spectacle that evokes greater feelings than just simple entertainment.”

2) Occult & Horror!

Quinn adds, “As a big fan of horror cinema, I wanted to combine this experience that 70mm and 70mm IMAX brings with occult and horror elements, something that’s very unusual for this format, something that I think is very exciting.”

1) IMAX!
