After the seventh season finale of Suits, USA Network has announced the official title of the spinoff starring Gina Torres, who plays powerhouse Jessica Pearson, as Suits: Second City. Suits fans will definitely want to check out how Jessica (Torres) moves from legal and into the make or break world of Chicago politics.
As we previously mentioned, the spinoff will follow Jessica Pearson (Torres) as she adjusts to her new life in the Windy City. Jessica finds herself being forced to enter the dirty world of Chicago politics. Pearson must then rely on her legal wits and valiant relationships from Pearson Specter Litt to navigate this unknown territory.
[Spoilers just in case you haven’t seen the Season 7 finale!] Here are 5 reasons why we’re excited for Suits: Second City:
5) The Backdoor Pilot!
During the seventh season finale, Mike (Adams) and Rachel (Meghan Markle) had their long overdue wedding before leaving the firm. Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) saved the day and became the firm’s new partner, alongside Specter and Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman). Elsewhere, Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) has set foot in Chicago to reunite with her long-lost family, while taking on a crooked politician and a shady real estate developer.
4) Chicago!
Jessica (Torres) has returned home because she wants to reconnect with her estranged family. Will her family keep her from falling into the dark side of family? We’ve seen how power corrupts with Mayor Bobby Golec (Morgan Spector). Offering to take care of her family, the Mayor hires Jessica to clean up his dirty work.
3) Jessica Vs Kerri!
If you miss Jessica Pearson like we miss Jessica Pearson, we have good news – a #Suits spinoff is coming: https://t.co/Vuzh1izfxD

My favorite part of the backdoor pilot was watching Jessica go at it against prosecutor Keri Allen (Rebecca Rittenhouse). We’re left wondering how Keri will react to being forced to work with Jessica. With the spinoff getting a series order, I hope we get to see more of Rittenhouse and Torres on opposite sides.
2) What About Jeff?
I really hope Jeff gets to be in Second City because D. B. Woodside has such dynamic chemistry with Pearson. I’m rooting for another season of Lucifer, don’t get me wrong. Woodside is an incredible talent and it’d be a shame if he’s not on camera anytime soon.
1) Suits Crossover!?!
Those both shows are in a shared universe, showrunner Aaron Korsh reveals to Deadline if there will a crossover any time soon, “We haven’t really discussed doing any crossover episodes in the first season of the spinoff and we’re not currently having Jessica come in and be in the Suits world. I could see doing that in the ninth season of Suits but right now there’s no plans to merge the worlds again.”
No word yet when Suits: Second City will air on USA Network.
