As Suits continues its current Season 7, USA Network has announced a Suits spinoff starring Gina Torres, who plays powerhouse Jessica Pearson. Suits fans will definitely want to check out how Jessica (Torres) moves from legal and into the make or break world of Chicago politics.
According to Deadline, the spinoff will follow Jessica Pearson (Torres) as she adjusts to her new life in the Windy City. Jessica finds herself being forced to enter the dirty world of Chicago politics. Pearson must then rely on her legal wits and valiant relationships from Pearson Specter Litt to navigate this unknown territory.
Here are 5 reasons why we’re excited for Gina Torres’ Suits spinoff:
5) It’s A Reunion!
During the sixth season finale, Gina Torres said goodbye to Jessica Pearson, who was done dealing with the scandal Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) left behind. Now the old gang is finally back together! Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), Ross (Adams), Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty) and Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle) will be making a visit to Chicago in the seventh season finale!
4. She Was In Firefly!
Torres made a name for herself among sci-fi fans in the underrated Cleopatra 2525. Oh who am I kidding! You all know her from Joss Whedon’s cult classic, Firefly! Even Chris McCumber, President of Entertainment Networks, NBCU Cable Entertainment agrees by stating that Torres has “won won the hearts of television fans everywhere.”
3. The Creative Team!
The backdoor pilot will be written by Suits creator/showrunner Aaron Korsh and executive producer Daniel Arkin. Suits alum Anton Cropper (House of Lies) will be directing the pilot. Suits executive producers Doug Liman, David Bartis and Gene Klein of Hypnotic will also serve as executive producers on the spinoff.

If this is the backdoor pilot, I can’t wait to see who will be starring in the Suits spinoff pilot. What we do know is that the lawyer drama definitely needs a female version of Louis Litt! God help us all because that will be amazing!
1. The Guest Stars!
In the first four episodes, Torres’ cameo appearances have only been with Harvey (Macht). Are we safe to assume that will continue in the spinoff? Will Harvey show up once in a crossover event like Law & Order and Homicide? Has Korsh created his own Suits-shared universe?
Season 7 of Suits currently airs Wednesdays at 9pm on USA Network.
