Forgotten Queen #2, Valiant

An epic time-traveling adventure, The Forgotten Queen #2 (Valiant Entertainment) is a sprawling tale of action, love, and war from start to finish. The second installment does a fantastic job playing around with historical periods and introducing witchcraft.

True to the name she’s been called throughout history, the War-Monger knows how to get a good fight going among even the best of friends. The outcome of the battle never mattered to her – at least, not until she fell head over heels for the Mongol Empire’s most fearsome warrior. She can poison hearts against one another…but can she win one for herself?

Here are 5 reasons why you should get The Forgotten Queen #2:

5)What Happened Before?

A long time ago, the mighty generals of the Mongol Empire rode from Siberia to Carpathia and conquered all who stood in their way. Legends tell of a witch who walked with them, who could infect the hearts of any warriors in her midst with an unquenchable thirst for battle and bloodshed…a War-Monger.

4) The Writing!

Writer Tini Howard continues to do a phenomenal job exploring the origin story of the War-Monger. Through the eyes of the female protagonist, Howard examines what makes immortality such a curse and a blessing. The lettering by Jeff Powell heightens the suspense as the stranded scientists worry about the incoming sea-storm.

3) The Art!

Artist Amilcar Pinna does an amazing job with the wardrobes, such as the armor, in the historical flashbacks. Notice how the setting becomes surreal when witches and dark magic are introduced. Readers will notice how the desert landscape gradually disappears and turns into a jungle environment.

2) The Colors!

Colorist Ulises Arreola carries the theme of blue from one panel to the next. Your eyes will be glued to the blue tones during the time-jumps. The red mark on the War-Monger’s cheek adds to her expressions.

1) A Solid Read!

With an interesting plot, The Forgotten Queen #2 mixes fantasy, action, and history. With a compelling character, I’m really looking forward to the next issue of The Forgotten Queen.

The Forgotten Queen #2 arrives in stores on March 27, 2019.
