Film Life Factory, LLC, Avail Films, and XVIII Entertainment, LLC production have crafted an entertaining sci-fi action thriller, Astro, with a charismatic cast including Gary Daniels, Dominique Swain, and Marshal Hilton. Director Asif Akbar dives deep into the alien mythology, hinting at a bigger story of an exciting sci-fi franchise.
As we previously mentioned, a billionaire’s private space exploration program returns to Earth. The program came back to our planet with an abducted extraterrestrial. What will the world uncover from from this newly discovered alien planet? The cast includes Louis Mandylor, Max Wasa, Omi Vaidya, Luke G. Crosby, Orson Chaplin, Gianni Capaldi, Spice Williams-Crosby, Christopher Showerman and Michael Pare.
Here are 5 reasons why we love Astro:
5) The Emotional Bond!
After adopting a quiet and calm lifestyle, Jack Adams (Gary Daniels)’ seculded world gets shaken up when he is visited by an old friend. In portraying Laura Lee, Courtney Akbar has a strong on-screen presence and delivers a sympathetic performance as Jack’s estranged daughter. When these two are together, Daniels and Akbar capture the emotional father/daughter connection that sets up the higher stakes.
3) The Big Bad!
Marshal Hilton is quite charismatic as the ruthless and cunning billionaire Alexander Biggs. Using his money and intelligence, Biggs (Hilton) knows how to outwit his enemies and get what he wants. Hilton and Daniels are definitely engaging to watch when they share the same scene together.
3) The Soundtrack!
With an experimental score composed by Erick Schroeder, Brian Steele Medina of Gemini Syndrome has also added to the original music. Make sure you stick around for the end credits and take a listen to the metal track, “We Are The Fallen.”
2) The Book!
With a bigger vision left to explore, Akbar and co-screenwriter Bernard Selling will be finishing up the Astro book series. Even as the film works by itself as a standalone, there are subplots left to explore even further. The upcoming novel adaptation will be released on Amazon sometime in July.
1) The Building Of An Epic Franchise!
With a strong script, Astro kickstarts an original sci-fi franchise and takes off in the many different directions. With a compelling core concept, Astro capitalizes on its eye-pleasing special effects and quick-paced action sequences.
Astro will arrive on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment in June 5, 2018.
