With Season 8 of Suits coming back from break, USA Network has officially announced the title to the Suits spinoff, Pearson, starring Gina Torres. Suits fans will definitely want to check out how Jessica Pearson (Torres) moves from legal and into the make or break world of Chicago politics.
As we previously mentioned, the spinoff will follow Jessica Pearson (Torres) as she adjusts to her new life in the Windy City. Jessica finds herself being forced to enter the dirty world of Chicago politics. Pearson must then rely on her legal wits and valiant relationships from Pearson Specter Litt to navigate this unknown territory.
Here are 5 reasons why we’re excited for Pearson:
5) New Name!
According to TV Line, the title is a reference to the leading lady’s main character. This title actually works for me because Second City just refers to a relocation from New York City to Chicago. This is more about the Pearson herself entering the dirty world of politics.
4) Her Baby!
Torres captions her photo on Instagram, “My Baby has a NAME!!!!!! #Pearson is coming your way!!”
3) More!
The former Suits actress shared a behind-the-scenes video and photo, with her co-star Bethany Joy Lenz. As we previously mentioned, Prosecutor Keri Allen, the unofficial right hand to the mayor, will now be played by Lenz.
2) The Cast!
Chantel Riley will continue on as Angela Cook, the certified Nursing Assistant and Jessica’s cousin. Isabel Arraiza will play Yoli Castillo, Jessica’s passionate assistant. Eli Goree will be seen as Derrick Mayes, Mayor Bobby Golec’s young press secretary and a former journalist.
1) The Backdoor Pilot!
During the seventh season finale, Mike (Adams) and Rachel (Meghan Markle) had their long overdue wedding before leaving the firm. Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) saved the day and became the firm’s new partner, alongside Specter and Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman). Elsewhere, Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) has set foot in Chicago to reunite with her long-lost family, while taking on a crooked politician and a shady real estate developer.
Pearson does not have a premiere date set. Season 8 of Suits will continue on USA Network in 2019.
