In the first installment, captain of the Royal Guard has fled the capital city with the Queen of Maar. Unfortunately, Captain Rook was separated from the Queen. The Queen screamed out, “Murderer,” at Rook after having a spiritual awakening. Together they had a surreal visit to the past, featuring a treacherous brother.
4) A Major Revelation!
Writers Brenden Fletcher and Karl Kerschl capture the heart and action of Captain Rook’s frantic rescue of her Queen. Queen Olwyn has returned to normal but she is bleeding from her wounds. The lettering by Aditya Booker focuses on Rook’s dedication to the mission to keep her Queen alive.
3) The Artwork!
Notice how artists Karl Kerschl and Msassyk play around with suspense and claustrophobia with the swampy surroundings. At the climax, Captain Rook steers around the murky waters on a rowboat. I like how the artwork focuses on Rook’s sweaty forehead from the hot atmosphere; what detail!
2) The Colors!
The swamp is drenched in a blue tone, matching the symbols on Queen Olwyn’s skin. Notice when the story turns mysticism, the hues turn to a pinkish-purplish blend .
