With Shout! Studios overseeing the film’s production, actress Laura Vandervoort teases the behind-the-scenes “process” of her upcoming horror venture into Rabid. Known for Dead Hooker in a Trunk and American Mary, the Soska Sisters are now helming the remake of David Cronenberg’s 1977 classic horror film.
According to Dark Universe, the synopsis is as follows, “What happens when you realize to achieve your dreams you have to live a nightmare? Rose [Vandervoort} is a quiet, demure, unassuming woman in her looks and action. Her dream is to become a famous designer in the fashion world, but terrible accident leaves Rose scared beyond recognition. She seeks out a radical untested stem cell treatment. The treatment is nothing short of a miracle and the wallflower turns into the bell-of-the-ball. It all seems to good to be true. She is now everything she wanted to be. But everything in life comes at a price and this new found perfect life is no exception.”
Here are 5 reasons we’re excited for Rabid:
5) The Process!
Over on her official Instagram page, Vandervoort shares the behind-the-scenes process of being drenched in blue gel by Masters FX, who have done work for The Handmaid’s Tale and The Magicians.
4) It Begins!
The Bitten actress states, “And so it begins. #Rabid @soskasisters Thank you @mastersfx1 crew for making this a faster process than normal for this claustrophobic girl.”
3) Someone’s A Fan!
Everything is speeded up in the short video as the crew works their magic! The song you’re hearing in the background is “Hey Now” by London Grammar. Is Vandervoort a huge fan of the pop band?
2) She’s Laura Vandervoort That’s Why?
Vandervoort played Supergirl in the Smallville series and now she’s taking on the role previously played by Marilyn Chambers! What wonders will she do in the remake?
1) Dead Hooker In A Trunk!
Taking Hollywood by storm with their directorial debut, Jen and Sylvia Soska wrote, directed, acted and produced this explosive ride of extreme violence, blood, guts, gore with Dead Hooker in a Trunk. I can’t wait to see what they do with their modern spin of Rabid.
Back 40 Pictures will handle the theatrical distribution duties. We anxiously await to hear news of the release date of Rabid.
