Return Nuke Em High, Troma

Living up to its quirky and wacky title, Troma Entertainment’s Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High AKA Vol. 2, starring Asta Paredes and Catherine Corcoran, becomes stunningly irreverent while carrying out its own brand of nuttiness. Saved by two fantastic leads, director Lloyd Kaufman douses the narrative with clever self-mockery and juvenile mayhem.

A lesbian couple is determined to eliminate the most vile forces of Tromaville and the world. Lauren (Catherine Corcoran) and Chrissy (Asta Paredes) must face and defeat the most corrupt and evil opponents ever! Will they stop these forces before they descend upon Tromaville…and the world!

Here are 5 reasons why you should see Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High AKA Vol. 2:

5) Asta Paredes!

Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High aka Vol. 2

On her own playing field, Asta Paredes returns as Chrissy, who’s a bit more edgy this time around. Hitting her comedic stride, Paredes is full game when it comes to the absurd humor. Audiences will get an instantaneous laugh, whether she’s saying, “We must kill God!” absurdly or screaming “Shut up!” repeatedly.

4) Catherine Corcoran!

After playing the femme fatale in Long Lost, Catherine Corcoran is a comedy champ in this raunchy movie! A charismatic lead, Corcoran delivers a committed performance as the oblivious and air-headed Lauren. Fully embracing the role, Corcoran never shies away from nudity and being hosed in green goop.

3) Completely Absurd!

Thanks to Zac Amico and Clay von Carlowitz, this ensemble cast is unabashedly uproarious when it comes to fart jokes and slapstick gags. You can even make a drinking game out of how many times “duck rape” is said and I think that’s the whole point! Yet there’s an underlying smart and satirical jab at gun control and school shootings.

2) Totally Tasteless!

After throwing every cinematic trick in the book at viewers, from slow-motion to split-screens, this movie just stops its narrative midway through just to self-serve itself. Self-referential and parodic at the same time, director Lloyd Kaufman loves poking meta-themed jokes at his Troma legacy.

1) Unapologetic Satire!

Unapologetically crude and satirical, Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High AKA Vol. 2  is consistent when it comes to ridiculous sight gags, nudity, and absurd acting. The main reason though this films works is because Asta Paredes and Catherine Corcoran are brilliant together onscreen.

Film Noir Cinema is screening Return to Return to Nuke ‘Em High AKA Vol. 2 starting Friday, April 26th for ONE WEEK ONLY!
