Overflowing with the zombie goods, Road of the Dead: Highway to Hell #1 refuses to skimp on  the blood and guts! The first installment of the Road of the Dead miniseries captures creative moments featuring the bloodthirsty undead.

The dead rose and are feasting on the living. A young scientist may hold the secret to a cure. Zombies and biker gangs want her dead. A bunch of losers in muscle cars and a hijacked tank will risk everything to save her.

Here are 5 reasons why you should get Road of the Dead: Highway to Hell #1:

5) The History!

According to Bloody-Disgusting, writer/director George A. Romero had planned one more entry to his zombie franchise before passing away. Co-written by Romero, the directorial reins was meant to be handed over to Matt Birman. Allegedly, Birman still plans on making the movie, but nothing from the project came about.

4) The Writing!

Are you a fan of V-Wars?!? New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Maberry does wonders with the snappy dialogue, while providing thought-provoking social commentary. In a time when fake news and arguments over climate change take charge, Maberry takes aim at a young female scientist trying to save the world from itself. The letting by Robbie Robbins does a great job capturing the snappy banter.

3) The Art!

In the opening pages, I love how artist Drew Moss captures the setting and weather in the illustrations. I love how the traumatized solider, Steve, fights off the zombies in the woods during a rainy night. Surrounded by the undead, Steve is having a mental breakdown as the raindrops hit his face.

2) The Colors!

The colors by Jay Fotos does a great job capturing the throwback feel. Reminiscent of Dawn of the Dead, the zombies stand apart from the humans because of their skin alive, Notice how the undead faces are draped in blue tones.

1) A Zombie Thriller!

A terrifying and tense zombie thriller, horror fans are absolutely going to love Road of the Dead: Highway to Hell #1. I can’t wait for the next issue!
