A meditative re-imagination of Arthurian legends, Sword of Ages #2 (IDW Publishing) continues to be an epic sci-fi breakthrough that will definitely thrill readers. The second installment transcends the visuals and expands on its themes.

As we previously mentioned, this is an all-new vision of the Excalibur myth. Avalon meets new partners with questionable motives during her quest to prevent a power struggle from exploding. Will the guardian of the Sacred Lake help her on her quest? Or will she present an even greater challenge? Covenants are sworn, unknown magic forces are revealed, and a new power rises.

Here are 5 reasons why you should pick up Sword of Ages #2:

5) A New Level Of Excitement!

Writer/artist Gabriel Rodriguez boldly reinvents the Lady in the Lake and the Sword in the Stone. Rodriguez presents a staggering new vision of the future, while updating elements from medieval and sorcery times. The imagery of Avalon and her world has such hypnotic vistas!

4) World-Building At Its Best!

Just like in the first issue, Rodriguez divides the epic narrative into chapters. These chapters introduce readers to the white monks of Caledia and the antagonist, Lord Morgan. The illustrations scream out ambitiousness with its character designs and backgrounds.

3) The Colors!

Colorist Lovern Kindzierski emphasizes the details in the deigns with her vivid palette. Notice how the tones are different for the logos on the armor. You know the henchmen work for Lord Morgan because of the matching red and black colors.

2) The Splash Page!

I don’t want to spoil anything but there is a spectacular splash page towards the climax. The illustration has a cinematic scope that captures so much emotion.

1) A Brilliant Read!

Readers will definitely love the spectacular futuristic sci-fi epic of Sword of Ages #2! This is a world of wonder and I cannot wait to get my hands on the third installment.
