A knockout installment, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #88 (IDW Publishing) delivers the emotional conclusion after such pulse-pounding and intense action sequences. As its latest story arc closes off, the TMNT series keeps readers entertained, while taking the popular franchise into exciting and fresh territory.
The TMNT, Bishop, and their respective allies come to a climactic battle that will have devastating consequences for many!
Here are 5 reasons why you should get Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #88:
5) What Happened Before!
As Baxter Stockman contemplates running for Mayor of New York, April wonders if his ambitions are clouding his judgement. Elsewhere, the battle between the Triceratops and the Utroms has escalated. Though Raphael reluctantly takes a side, the Turtles have teamed up with the Mutanimals,
4) Battle Lines!
From a story by Kevin Eastman and Bobby Curnow, writer Tom Waltz analyzes the consequences of war as self-sacrifices and difficult choices have to be made. No matter what happens, The Turtles have truly lost and this defeat will haunt them. Shawn Lee’s lettering emphasizes the emotional turmoil of losing a comrade in battle.
3) The Artwork!
Artist Dave Wachter does a phenomenal job recreating wartime images from movies, such as Full Metal Jacket and Saving Private Ryan. You have these breathtaking pictures of the Turtles as soldiers running across the beachfront, as explosions take place. A commentary of our times, Wachter heightens the suspense when a supporting character takes out a gun and fires a headshot.
2) The Colors!
Notice how colorist Ronda Pattison captures the fire, dirt, and mud from Burrow Island. It’s such a grimy color palette because it feels like there’s no sun shining down on this island. Notice how the colors turn brightly one time, during the flashback sequence.
