Tricks Treats, Beauty Horror

With Halloween just around the corner, IDW Publishing has released the must-have installment of Alan Robert’s best-selling coloring book series with The Beauty of Horror: Tricks and Treats. With so much confidence in his artistic style, Robert’s illustrations range from gorgeous to uncompromising as you turn the next page.

Expect more tricks than treats as you color each of these GOREgeously drawn macabre masterpieces. While you fill your jack ‘o lantern to the brim with delicious delights, keep an eye out for all of Ghouliana’s contaminated candies before you take a fatal bite. She has already dismantled Christmas with The Beauty of Horror: Ghosts of Christmas Coloring Book, now it’s time to turn Hallow’s Eve on its head.

Here are 5 reasons why you should get The Beauty of Horror: Tricks and Treats:

5) What To Expect!

The Beauty of Horror: Tricks and Treats

Tricks and Treats comes with all-new fresh designs. These 7” x 7”, one-sided perforated pages will allow newbies and pros to decorate their creations however they please. By the time you’re done, you’re going to want everyone to see them!

4) The Imagery!

The black and white imagery ranges from downright creepy to jaw-dropping terrifying. In one of the images, you have a spider crawling out of a woman’s mouth. I enjoyed Robert’s twist on the Sleepy Hollow legend as the Headless Horseman rides on top of his skeletal companion. Aiming for shock value, Robert also illustrates a zombie girl eating brains from her own bare hands.

3) The Black Humor!

I think the Beauty of Horror series do a fantastic job of spotlighting Robert’s black humor. Reminiscent of a joke from Re-Animator, it’s a tongue-in-cheek image of a headless Victorian lady staring at her head. It’s quite a cheeky chuckle when you spot the Frankenstein Monster holding itself together by a piece of gum.  And then there’s Ghouliana arguing with a little girl over a doll.

2) The Colors Are Waiting!

Robert is able to capture so much detail with his black and white illustrations, while still leaving enough space to color in.

1) A Marvel Of Style!
