Full of surprising twists and bone-crunching action, Bone Parish #11 (BOOM! Studios) antes up the stakes in this riveting installment of the supernatural thriller. Truly one of the best titles to have come out of 2018, Bone Parish succeeds with its biggest body count yet.
The Winters family has suffered multiple casualties, but in a world where death is no longer final, could there be life left for those afflicted?
Here are 5 reasons why you should get Bone Parish #11:
5) What Happened Before!
Next week! The penultimate issue of BONE PARISH hits the stands! @scharf_jonas @alex_guim @boomstudios pic.twitter.com/8pFsQycSqB
— Cullen Bunn (@cullenbunn) July 18, 2019
Since the first issue, the new drug that everybody is talking about is made from the ashes of humans! The ashes take the addicted users to new hallucinatory heights. Now imagine someone experimenting on this kind of drug and taking its adverse effects to a whole other level.
4) The Writing!
Without any use of dialogue, writer Cullen Bunn vividly dives into the headspace of his ensemble cast of characters. The open pages are brilliantly told from the police perspective to the Winters POV. Towards the climax, letterer Ed Dukeshire captures the tragedy and irony in the foreboding dialogue between Brae and Leon.
3) The Artwork!
Artist Jonas Scharf does a fantastic job capturing the emotions and facial reactions in the cinematic opening pages. Then Scharf really goes for the jugular with a brutal and visceral bar-fight. In graphic detail, you get to see what happens after a finger gets bitten off.
2) The Colors!
Colorist Alex Gumaraes ramps up the red tones during the intense fighting. Notice how police headquarters is captured in a greenish tone. Even the detective’s jacket matches with the background.
1) Horror & Crime!
As the violence heats up and the death count rises, Bone Parish #11 brings out the best in horror and crime! I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
Bone Parish #11 is out in stores on July 24th, 2019.
