Wonder Woman #83, DC Comics

In the action-packed second part, Wonder Woman #83 (DC Comics) continues the reign of terror brought on by the supervillainess known as The Cheetah. Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva, aka The Cheetah, is now loose in the jungle, turning paradise into her own version of Hell.

Now that Cheetah has gained control of Themyscira, Wonder Woman must return home for a final showdown. Does she stand a chance against this scholar-turned-monster whose sole purpose was to enter this mythical realm? Meanwhile, Earth is left unprotected and some of Themyscira’s most vile creations have found their way there. What chaos awaits Wonder Woman if she ever returns?

Here are 5 reasons why you should read Wonder Woman #83:

5) The Writing!

Wonder Woman #83

Writer Steve Orlando captures the power struggle within Wonder Woman, who has been stripped of her identity, losing both her lasso and tiara, to a vengeful Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva. It’s important to note that Wonder Woman wants to defeat Cheetah; not kill her. Though Barbara has humiliated her,  Wonder Wonder still has faith in Cheetah’s humanity and tries so hard to save her. Letterer Pat Brosseau bolds certain words in the dialogue to emphasize Cheetah’s emotional crisis in faith.

4) The Artwork!

Pencilers Miguel Mendonca and Jeremy Raapack capture an intense and epic battle between two fighters. As the memorable fight moves from Themyscira to Boston, inkers Mendonca, Norm Rapmund, and Marc Deering make great use of their stylish locations. In a wide shot, Wonder Wonder excels in her hand-to-hand combat against the female assassin known as Silencer.

3) The Colors!

Colorist Gabe Eltaeb uses white and grey tones to highlight the tactical gear worn by Silencer. Notice how Wonder Woman’s red and blue colors glisten in the shadows; as if she’s her own light source.

2) Cheetah vs. Wonder Woman!

The second part of the epic narrative does a fantastic job setting up the epic battle between the protagonist and antagonist. Notice how Wonder Woman takes the impact from bullets and explosives to save Cheetah’s life.

1) A Suspenseful First Act!

Never forget we root for the Big Bad here at Villain Media and we’re still rooting for Cheetah in Wonder Woman #83. Really excited to see what happens next in the story.
