Uncork’d Entertainment delivers a wickedly nightmarish suburban thriller with Dolls, starring Dee Wallace and Trinity Simpson. Director Culye Carvin ramps the twisted horror of the killer doll genre within a gripping family drama.
A struggling children’s book author and his rebellious teenage daughter move into a house they have inherited and find mysterious dolls in the attic. The father and daughter soon learn that the dolls have a sinister – and deadly – past.
Here are 5 reasons why you should see Dolls:
5) Trinity Simpson!
Trinity Simpson’s charisma really bounces off the screen when she pops up in her scenes with Thomas Downey. Simpson and Downey have such genuine and relatable affection as they play their father and daughter roles, Robert and Sammey Holbrook. The two have such a dynamic chemistry that really works as their unsuspecting characters are being manipulated by the sinister dolls.
4) Dee Wallace!
As such an engaging screen presence, Dee Wallace builds the mystery and suspense when her character, Margaret, shows up in the narrative. During her monologue, Wallace captures such intense bewilderment and fear with her facial expressions. Wallace’s performance will keep audiences glued till the very end.
3) The Dolls!
Jeff Miller, Justin and Josh Hawkins dive into the psychological terror by building the mythology of the deadly dolls. The dolls themselves have a stylish look, as if they have their own distinct personalities. I also like that there is a subtle psychic disturbance when the dolls arrive. The dolls are intentionally messing with your head before going in for the kill.
2) The Director!
Director Culye Carvin is just as interested in creating the family dynamic, as well as crafting the jump scares with the killer dolls. Carvin wants viewers to be moved by the father/daughter relationship before diving into the shocking ending. Ben Maree’s cinematography plays around with the angles to instill paranoia within Robert Holbrook’s character arc.
1) Gripping Suspense!
Viewers will be genuinely surprised by how the family drama and the creeping horror work well together in Dolls. This twisted killer doll movie has a wicked spirit of its own!
Dolls arrives on DVD and VOD July 2nd, 2019.
