ABC invites audiences to their world of magic in the crime drama, Deception, starring Jack Cutmore-Scott and Ilfenesh Hadera, with Episode 3: Escapology. Get ready to fight crime and learn a few magic tricks alongside magician Cameron Black (Scott) and FBI agent Kay Daniels (Hadera).

At a crime scene, Mike Alvarez (Amaury Nolasco) and Daniels are called in when a museum is locked down. With the bombs rigged on a remote trigger, they had a hostage trapped inside. The FBI needs an escape artist but Cameron is in bed with his one-night stand.

While the bomb squad analyzes the situation, Black needs to figure out how to break inside and save the hostage. He promises Joan that she will be safe. The mad bomber makes a call and gives Kay his ransom demands. Cameron and Kay realize the terrorist is watching them.

After one of the bombs is triggered, destroying a painting,  Cameron tries to calm down Joan and makes her talk about art history. Mike, Cameron, and Jay have triangulated the terrorist’s cameras. While Jordan (Justin Chon), Dina (Lenora Crichlow), and Gunter (Vinnie Jones) are searching for the escapist who broke into the museum, Cameron makes a call to Jonathan.

Dietrich (John Shea) is angry that his paintings are being destroyed in the bomb aftermath. Jonathan ends up talking to the escape artist (Kevin Corrigan) and gets him to confess. Kay has her eyes on Dietrich, making him a suspect. Owing a favor to the escape artist, Jonathan discovers a crawl space that isn’t in the map.

The magic team breaks into the museum curator’s office and finds the hidden crawl space. After crawling underground, Cameron finally makes contact with Joan, without being seen by the mad bomber. While Cameron makes his trick, slides in a mirror, and tricks the camera. Cameron chit-chats with Joan as he accidentally shows his shoe. Though the mad bomber suspects something, Cameron replaces the paintings and puts in a mannequin to replace Joan.

With the mirror blocking Joan, Mike makes a pass at Dina. Kay enters the room to save the rest of the paintings and stall for time. The made bomber blows the entire room just when everybody gets out. In a tender moment, Kay reveals she had a sister, Caroline who loved artwork, before she died.

The magic team hacks into the transmitter, Kay analyzes the evidence, and Cameron asks Joan out on a date. Dina gives Mike a tour of the magic too when Jordan get a clue. Now that Kay knows this was a heist, she finds the bomber dead.

After being warned by Kay, Cameron knows Joan is involved, but he is suddenly attacked. While Kay continues her frantic search, Cameron and Joan are stuck in a trunk. Jonathan fakes his choking  and steals a pen from a prison guard.

While uncuffing himself, Cameron steals the car and drives towards the police, handing over Joan. It turns out Dietrich’s son was the real mastermind behind the heist.
