ABC airs the highly anticipated premiere of their newest sci-fi/mystery drama, The Crossing, with Episode 1: Pilot, starring Steve Zahn, Natalie Martinez, and Sandrine Holt. Audiences should get ready for an upcoming future war that takes place in the modern day.
Just before his upcoming visit with his son, Sheriff Jude Ellis (Zahn) is called into work. Jude and his deputy partner Nestor Rosario (Rick Gomez) rescue a drowned little girl named Leah (Bailey Skodje) and luckily revive her. They soon discover a beach full of dead bodies coming in from the waters.
Jude finds himself crossing paths with Homeland Security agent Emma Ren (Holt). During her interrogation, she learns something strange about the refugees. The 47 survivors come from another time, about 180 years into the future. The refugees are fleeing from a war that is going to happen in America one day.
Elsewhere, Reece (Natalie Martinez) has washed up to shore. During the night, she was trying to help her daughter, Leah, survive underwater. Far from her daughter, she learns about the dead bodies from a TV news report. Sheriff Jude is unknowingly tracing her movements as Reece fights her way and grabs a gun from a mugger.
After getting pushback from Emma, Jude finds himself being held at gunpoint by Reece. Tripping security on purpose and raising the alarms, Jude takes Reece to the dead bodies found at the beach, but she cannot find Leah. Just when security arrives to ambush them. Reece uses her superhuman strength to make her jump and escape.
While the other refugees are taken to their camp, Thomas has something important to say to Homeland. Emma holds a secret meeting with Thomas and her Homeland boss, Craig Lindauer (Jay Karnes). Thomas is trying to warn about the evil Apex corporation but Craig happens to be from the future.
After Craig shoots Thomas dead, Homeland agent, Leah appears to be adopted by the couple at the refugee camp. A romance appears to be brewing between a young couple as well at the camp. During the night, Reece finds herself breaking into Jude’s home.
Reece and Jude end up in a standoff, both wanting answers to what’s really going on.
After American Idol, The Crossing continues Mondays at 10pm on ABC.
