The popular superhero drama, Arrow, has its Season 6 premiere date locked for The CW Network. We’re very excited for the return of Stephen Amell as the DC Comics superhero and Emily Bett Rickards as his quirky companion, Felicity Smoak.
As we previously mentioned, the fifth season followed newly appointed Mayor Oliver Queen (Amell) finds himself fighting for the future of Star City. With Diggle (David Ramsey) back in the military and Thea (Willa Holland) hanging up her hood as Speedy, the Green Arrow needs more teammates. The public defeat of Damien Darhk has inspired a new crop of masked vigilantes and a new super-villain to take his place. Unfortunately for Oliver, this means he will have to confront questions about his own legacy, both as mayor and as the Green Arrow.
[SPOILERS Ahead] We have 5 reasons why we’re excited for the sixth season of Arrow:
5. New Time Slot!
According to IGN, the CW has announced the fall lineup premiere schedule. On its new night and time slot, Supernatural kicks off Thursday nights at 8pm before Arrow follows up at 9pm. I’m sure the Supernatural fans will stick around Arrow since both shows are geared for action.
4. Who’s Dead!?!
The fifth season finale ended with a major cliffhanger that shocked many fans. Having trapped the Arrow team on the island, Prometheus threatened to detonate the bombs. After pulling the trigger and killing himself, Prometheus set off the explosives he planted everywhere on the island, making it seemingly impossible for anyone to escape. What about that last-minute kiss between Ollie and Felicity if she’s dead?!?
3. Black Siren
Though Katie Cassidy will not be returning as Laurel Lance aka Black Canary, she will be reprising her role as the baddie Black Siren. Here’s hoping Black Siren isn’t playing second fiddle again to the Big Bad in the sixth season. She could also be dead since we last time saw her lying on the floor unconscious.
2. What’s Going To Happen To Thea?
How will Thea deal with Malcolm Merlyn’s self-sacrifice and saving her from the land mine? Or is that story arc not in the works if Thea’s dead? What we do know if that actor John Barrowman (Torchwood) will not be returning next season and announced his leave on his social platforms.
1. The Final Season?
The show bible was originally set for five seasons and the flashbacks have lined up with the timeline. There wasn’t supposed to be a cliff-hanger and the ending changed when the show got renewed. Will Arrow continue for another season, like another CW show (cough Supernatural cough)?
Season 5 of Arrow is now on Netflix. The sixth season is scheduled to begin Thursday October 12th.
