With the return of a major villain, the CW Network continues the high-stakes momentum of their latest superhero drama Black Lightning, starring Cress Williams, with Episode 8: Revelations. After being away in exile, Black Lightning has to face the secrets of his past in order to protect his city and his family.

Resurrected from the dead, Lala (William Catlett) returns back to his club. His henchmen are feeling weird when Lala start talking to himself because they do not see Lawanda (Tracey Bonner)’s ghost like he does. Naked in the shower, Lala plants a kiss on Lawanda before she disappears from his arms.

At school, Jennifer (China Anne McClain) starts to realize she may have powers. In her frightened emotional state, she ends up burning her cell. While Jennifer does another test on her newfound powers, Lynn (Christine Adams) looks into the missing papers from her lab and makes a shocking discovery.

Elsewhere, Peter Gambi (James Remar) has a secret meeting with Martin Proctor (Greg Henry). Tired of living in Freedomland, Proctor ups the ante and calls for the head of Black Lightning. ASA operatives are coming for Black Lightning and Gambi cannot do anything to stop them.

After training with her father, Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jefferson Pierce (Williams) investigate the death of mob queen, Lady Eve (Jill Scott). Breaking into the morgue, they both notice something odd about Lady Eve’s burnt corpse. Her body wasn’t struck by lightning; she was hit by a manmade weapon.

Gambi realizes the hi-tech weapon used nuclear radiation, which is traceable by his software. The search leads father and daughter far out into the woods. The hitmen who killed Lady Eve were also murdered and buried in the ground.

Lynn pays a visit to Gambi and argues with him. She knows he is connected to the Green Light somehow. Now is the time for Gambi to tell the truth to Jefferson.

During their stakeout, a mysterious intruder shows up in the woods. Black Lightning and Thunder notice he’s heading towards the weapon that killed Lady Eve. After picking up the hi-tech gun, the intruder starts pressing random buttons. The daughter saves the father after the gun suddenly explodes.

After feeling the weight of his sins in church, Gambi finally reveals the truth to Jefferson. Gambi, whose real name is Esposito, created Green Light as a vaccine  to make the black citizens of Freedomland docile. Those who were vaccinated unexpectedly ended up with superpowers. That’s why Gambi leaked that information to Jefferson’s father, which is how he ended up murdered.

While Gambi and Jefferson have their breakup, Anissa is frightened by the sudden news that her sister has superpowers too.

Black Lightning continues Tuesdays at 9pm on The CW.
