Watchmen, HBO

HBO continues the critically acclaimed Watchmen, with Episode 6: This Extraordinary Being, starring Regina King and Jeremy Irons. Based on the DC comics masterpiece by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, find out what happens in the alternate future where police officers band together against an impending apocalypse.

After taking in her grandfather’s Nostalgia pills, Angela (King) starts to hallucinate. Laurie Blake (Jean Smart) needs Angela’s concession to pump out the drugs from her stomach. Angela is too far gone and starts reliving Will Reeves’ life.

The memories start when Will finally graduates from the academy and earns his police badge. His commanding officer warns him about the Cyclops. Out on his beat in New York, Will witnesses a hate crime in progress and arrests the perpetrator.

Unfortunately, Will is met with resistance by the while police officers. The white cops string Will up and hang him from a tree, demoralizing him. After being freed by the white cops, Will gets the idea to use his mask and rope to save a couple from being robbed.

Will decides to make a name for himself as a vigilante. At a stakeout, now as Hooded Justice, Will beats the crap out of a few KKK members. The KKK is studying hypnosis and subliminal messages to commit an even bigger heinous crime.

The Hooded Justice starts getting attention from the New Minutemen. Captain Metropolis wants to use Hooded Justice as a way to legitimize the team, while also using Will as his sex toy. Will thinks the New Minutemen will help him take down the KKK.

A riot breaks out at a movie theater in Harlem. Will discovers the KKK is using their technology to turn black people into violent killers. Through subliminal messaging in film, the black movie-goers are ordered to kill each other.

The New Minutemen want nothing to with Will’s plea for help. Captain Metropolis though wants to have sex with Will with their masks on this time. With no backup, Will puts on his mask and takes out his gun before entering a KKK hideout.

Showing no remorse, Will shoots every KKK member dead in the hideout. After burning the dead bodies, Will leaves with their subliminal technology. Now older, Will (Louis Gosstt Jr.) uses the tech on Judd (Don Johnson).

The last thing Angela revisits is Judd’s murder. Under hypnosis, Judd confesses the KKK outfit belonged to his grandfather; it was not his. Will orders Judd to hang himself from the tree.

After waking up, Angela finds herself in Lady Trieu (Hong Chau)’s room.
