An engaging and entertaining read, Rocket Girl Vol. 2: Only The Good (Image Comics) phenomenally mixes time-travel and police procedural. Writer Brandon Montclare and artist Amy Reeder (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur) have crafted a humorous sci-fi police story that vibes a genuine love for the ‘80s.

As we previously mentioned, DaYoung Johansson, aka Rocket Girl, relaunches her investigation into crimes against time. DaYoung is the teen-cop-from-the-future but her adventures continue in the ‘80s. A major clue lands right in front of her just as she attempts to takedown of the evil corporation known as Quintum Mechanics.

Here are 5 reasons why you should pick up Rocket Girl Volume 2: Only The Good:

5) DaYoung’s Breakout Star!

As the main character, DaYoung Johansson wonderfully captures teen angst and rebellion with such enthusiasm. Writer Brandon Montclare is having a lot of fun with DaYoung ’s action sequences. Rocket Girl actually jumps on top of the moving cars and taxis before taking off in her costume.

4) The Amazing Artwork!

Artist Amy Reeder illustrates Rocket Girl’s death-defying stunts in eye-catching flying sequences. You forget how young Rocket Girl actually is as she finds herself caught in deadly shoot-outs. In Reeder’s artwork, DaYoung Johansson is strong, fierce, and upbeat.

3) Time-Travel!

There is so much detail behind recreating 1986’s New York. The Big Apple is portrayed with such electric visuals. The visuals are even slicker and glossy when the narrative jumps into Rocket Girl’s future.

2) The Passion!

The ‘80s are put together through the research and photos of New York history. I just love the dedication and passion that  these creators have with Rocket Girl.

1) A Satisfying Read!

An energetic blend of action and sci-fi, Rocket Girl Vol. 2: Only The Good keeps readers engaged with its sly humor and eye-catching visuals. If you have the first volume, you might as well add the second volume to your comic book collection!
