USA Network continues Season 8 of the popular lawyer drama, Suits, starring Gabriel Macht and Katherine Heigl, with Episode 2: Pecking Order. Now that Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) has left the firm, is lawyer Harvey Specter (Macht) ready to get back and take on new court cases?
After being named Managing Partner, Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) orders Samantha Wheeler (Heigl)to keep an eye out on Harvey. Samantha wants to prove her worth at the firm, even if it means going over Harvey’s head. They go end up butting heads over the needs of their client.
Having worked with Wheeler at their previous firm, Katrina Bennet (Amanda Schull) explains to Donna (Sarah Rafferty) who she’s dealing with. There are people who loved having Samantha by their side, but there are those who cannot stand her. Donna wants to know if she will stand by Harvey’s side when it counts.
While Alex (Dule Hill) attempts to get back at Samantha and steal her client, Louis feels left out and neglected by Harvey and Robert. Louis doesn’t want to be Managing Partner, but Sheila wants the position so badly for him. They both start arguing about their needs in the relationship.
Alex ends up in a custody battle over an expensive painting in a bitter divorce. After confronting each other in the bathroom, Donna explains to Samantha that she’s not sure whose side she’s on. After getting a yelling from Robert, Samantha falls back on Harvey’s graces and helps him win his case.
Still mad at Louis, Samantha meets with Dr. Lipschitz, who instantly recognizes her. He explains to her that Louis doesn’t want to be named Managing Partner because he found something else. Louis found true love with her.
After Harvey discovers Samantha wants to be named partner, Louis charges into the room. Though he doesn’t want to named Managing Partner, Louis demands to be recognized by Harvey and Robert. He power walks out of the room after cursing the two out.
Louis and Sheila make an important decision together. They both want to be parents and have a child together. They can still be dirty in bed together; they’re just going to have a kid along the way.
Knowing he also made a deal with Alex, Harvey wonders how he’s going to keep Samantha from becoming named partner. He has to do it his way or else…
