An impressive collection, WWE Vol.1 (BOOM! Studios) highlights the wrestler’s need to ambitiously climb their way to the top. A must read, the appealing WWE series explores the soap opera theatrics, plus the twists and turns behind Seth Rollins’ professional wrestling career.

Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose formed The Shield, one of the dominant fractions in WWE history. That is until the ultimate opportunities chose to betray the group. Seth has fallen in league with Triple H, the “King of Kings” in control WWE. Before reaching the WWE championship, Seth finds himself on a collision course with his former brothers.

Here are 5 reasons why you should read WWE Vol.1:

5) An Epic Tale!

Writer Dennis Hopeless crafts an epic coming-of-age tale that takes place within the wrestling industry. In the narrative, Seth Rollins is ambitious enough to reach to the top. Seduced by fame and fortune, Seth’s hubris will be his own tragic downfall.

4) The Prologue!

In Prologue, artist Dan Mora depicts the Shield members at their prime. In an epic splash page, the jaw-dropping into 16 eye-catching panels. The collage tells an entire story in itself; how Seth helplessly watches the beating of his brothers. Hopeless’ story revolves around this emotional moment; Seth may turn into a heel, but deep down inside, he loves his brothers.

3) The Artwork!

As the chapters continues, artist Serg Acuña illustrates the rise and fall of Seth’s road to the WWE championship. Acuña focuses on the psychical anguish and mental exhaustion Seth has to deal with in and out of the ring. During the matches, I love the way Seth’s movements, with his kicks and jumps, appear superhuman.

An enjoyable read, WWE Vol. 1 captures the endurance and hardships these wrestling superstars go through to keep their championship belts. This behind-the-scenes look also captures the physical skill, the humor, and the intensity that takes place within the ring.
