Before the final episode, which may possibly be the series finale, Fox continues The X-Files: Season 11 with the penultimate Episode 9: Nothing Last Forever. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson return as the iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.

In the operating table, the surgeon is cutting open a body as a female vigilante (Carlena Britch) stands guard outside. After the crooked surgeon harvests the organs, the vigilante jumps in, takes out her sword, and attacks. She then harvests the crooked surgeon’s organs and donates them to the hospital, promising “I Will Repay.”

At a church. Scully receives an urgent call and observes the crime scene with Mulder. The dead bodies have been staked through the heart. Putting on glasses, Mulder theorizes one person committed the gruesome murders. Elsewhere, Dr. Randolph Luvenis (Jere Burns) is feeding off his victim while watching TV with Barbara Beaumont (Fiona Vroom).

Back at the church, Scully tells Mulder that she doesn’t think this is an X-File. At the same place, the vigilance arrives as the Priest calls her Juliet. At a sex dungeon, Barbara is the leader of an underground cult. Barbara demands to know where her missing lungs are.

As Juliet leaves, Scully reveals the moment she discovered a higher power. She believes in the power of faith but not in miracles. In the rain, Mulder discovers the message, “I Will Repay.” Back at the cult, Randolph and Barbara murder their next victim but need a new body before they start feeling their age.

In her bedroom, Juliet finds a card from her missing sister, Olivia. Juliet tells Mulder and Scully she has given up on her sister, who has joined a cult. Mulder thinks Juliet is involved with the recent crimes but has no evidence.

Barbara and Randolph need a new host but their cult members are not ready. While Randolph follows his new lead for an organ, Barbara performs a song for her brainwashed cult. While she sings “The Morning After,” the others kill one of their own and feed off his organs.

Olivia has been named as the new host for Randolph. While Mulder and Scully follow a lead, they interrogate a suspect, who gives up Barabara’s name. The suspect reveals a hidden tunnel that leads them to Barbara, who’s really an 85 year old psycho woman.

Mulder and Scully are suddenly attacked by the cult members. After Scully is dumped into the trash suite, Juliet rescues Mulder and kills Barbara. In his search for his missing Scully, Mulder discovers Randolph and Olivia surgically attached.

Juliet chops Randolph’s head with an axe, rescuing her sister. Mulder then drags out Scully from the pile of trash bags. Though Olivia is back home, Juliet has to pay for her crimes.

While Mulder and Scully have a discussion on miracles and prayers, the couple asks themselves if they are together. Scully plants a kiss on him, whispers into his ear, and takes a lead of faith forward with him.
