Pushing itself beyond as a nostalgic revival from Top Cow, Cyber Force #4 (Image Comics) revolutionizes the popular Marc Silvestri comic with a visually stunning and action-packed installment. With two core protagonists from its heyday, Cyber Force has managed to be a perfect jumping-on point for new readers.

Morgan Stryker doesn’t want his daughter fighting alongside him. He doesn’t trust the android named Aphrodite that has the power to kill him…but he’ll need them both if he’s to stand in the face of Killjoy and a soldier from the future…who wants to keep our future from ever taking place.

Here are 5 reasons why you should get Cyber Force #4:

5) What Happened Before…

In the first installment, an unfortunate terrorist attack sends Stryker to the hospital. In order to save her father’s life, Carin signs on the dotted line of a twisted Faustian deal. The advanced technology rescued him from death, but also transformed the Aphrodite Project.

4) The Family Drama!

Writers Matt Hawkins and Bryan Hill bring the storyline back to its core, the father/daughter relationship between Stryker and Carin. Hinted by Troy Peteri’s lettering, Stryker explains he doesn’t want her to become a soldier, but that doesn’t mean he wants to stop her from fighting. Due to the confusing finale of Westworld’s second season, I don’t think I have it in me to explain the use of time-travel in the comic. But I do think it’s a good one!

3) The Artwork!

Artist Atilio Rojo captures the emotion behind the action sequences. Notice how Stryker is portrayed as a concerned father, who has doubts she’s ready to move past beyond her training wheels. And yet, Carin looks lovingly back at her father, like she wants his approval.

2) The Colors!

The green hues are a major standout, especially from Carin’s costume and her curly strand of hair. Notice how the red and yellow tones blend together with the greens during the action scenes.

1) A Gritty Read!

Overall, Cyber Force #4 meshes the family drama aspects into the techno-thriller genre. The issue ends on a shocking reveal that takes Cyber Force to a whole new level!

Cyber Force #4 arrives in stores on June 27th, 2018.
