A terrifying and creeping darkness continues to spread, as Gideon Falls #10 (Image Comics) ups the ante with eerie suspense that shadows over every page. Since the very beginning, the creative team behind Old Man Logan and Green Arrow take on mental illness and faith with such intense mediation.
The past finally catches up to the present when Doc gives Father Fred a rather gruesome history of Gideon Falls. And if finding a needle in a haystack is impossible, what chance does Norton have of finding one in a giant garbage dump?
Here are 5 reasons why you should pick up Gideon Falls #10:
5) What Happened Before!
First, we have a reclusive young man, Norton, obsessed with a conspiracy in the city’s trash. Then we have a washed-up Catholic priest, Father Fred, arriving in a small town full of dark secrets. Now their lives will become intertwined around the mysterious legend of The Black Barn.
4) The Writing!
Writer Jeff Lemire keeps the plot moving at breakneck speed, providing some insight as to what happened in Gideon Falls, which includes massive suicides and a serial killer. Based on their clues and research, Father Fred and Norton are seemingly headed towards the same destination. Letterer Steve Wands does a great job capturing the paranoia and fear within the monologues and captions.
3) The Artwork!

Andrea Sorrentino’s artwork in Gideon Falls is downright phenomenally breathtaking. I love how his panels create a suspenseful vibe as the illustrations jump back and forth between Fred and Norrton. It’s quite cinematic as the two lead protagonists echo the same parallels.
3) The Colors!
Colorist Dave Stewart uses red to tell the audience the clues they are supposed to find. In one of the overhead shots, a red circle is drawn around the floor around Norton’s feet. Stewart is telling the readers something that Norton probably doesn’t know himself.
