With a riveting lead protagonist, Livewire #1 (Valiant Entertainment) includes interesting supporting characters brought to life by an action-driven narrative. The perfect introduction to new readers, Livewire wonderfully sets up the premise for an electrifying must-read series.

Seeking to protect other vulnerable super-powered psiots like herself, Livewire plunged the United States into a nationwide blackout with her technopathic abilities, causing untold devastation. After choosing the few over the many, she must now outrun the government she served – and those she once called allies. With the whole world hunting her, what kind of hero will Livewire be…or will she be one at all?

Here are 5 reasons why you should get Livewire #1:

5) The Creative Team!

Are you a fan of Supergirl!?! There was a sense of freshness and wittiness when writer Vita Ayala contributed to Superman’s famous cousin. I loved the look and style artists Raul Allen and Patricia Martin did with Secret Weapons!

4) The Writing!

Writer Vita Ayala does an amazing job creating a reluctant heroine, who needs to fix her mistakes. Ayala wonderfully balances Livewire’s emotional arc with an action-packed plot. The opening pages are such a great quick rush! I hadn’t been excited about a plane crash since Lost!

3) The Artwork!

Artists Raúl Allén and Patricia Martín deliver a one-two punch with their fantastic illustrations. They capture Livewire’s conflicted emotions through facial expressions. The artistic duo capture a captivating action sequence in the climatic pages.

2) The Colors!

Notice how the color palette changes when Livewire uses her superpowers. The room turns into a pinkish/reddish tone when Livewire’s eyes spark. It’s like they’re visually telling you there’s a physical disturbance in the air.

1) A Great Read!

A fantastic introduction, Livewire #1 delivers suspenseful action sequences with colorful characters. This is a great comic book that captures the self-reflection of a superhero and the rousing sci-fi adventure.
