Weaving an entertaining spell of fantasy, self-parody, and adventure, Battlepug: The Compugdium (Image Comics) delivers all kinds of sword, canine, and muscle action! The award-winning webcomic, about a lonely man and his faithful companion, is put together in one massive must-read collection.

At long last, the award-winning fantasy/humor webcomic is collected in one volume! Join the last Kinmundian and his faithful steed, The Battlepug, as they travel the globe seeking revenge against every giant ridiculous animal they can find.

Here are 5 reasons why you should read Battlepug: The Compugdium:

5) The Writing!

Writer Mike Norton enjoys levels of self-parody, spoofing storytelling techniques and hilariously breaking the fourth wall. Readers will instantly tell Norton has a lot of tremendous love for the Conan the Barbarian and Red Sonja movies. Letterer Chris Crank bolds certain words to emphasize exaggeration and heighten emotion.

4) The Art!

Also on art duties, Norton illustrates such an adorable looking pug in the opening pages. If these animals don’t warm your cold heart, there’s seriously something wrong with you! I love the mix of child-like wonder as the wide-eyed pug flirts with the naked, seducing narrator.

3) The Colors!

Colorist Allen Passalaqua uses such vivid tones to capture the muscles and long hair of The Warrior. The Warrior is at times a self-loafing loner, and the colors heighten those mood points. The red and green tones are so vivid, especially when Bryony shows up midway through the narrative.

2) The Extras!

Along with collecting the entire 5 volumes, the collection includes extras like sketches and artwork by some of the most creative artists!

1) An Epic Read!

An epic adventure, Battlepug: The Compugdium delivers a fantastical world full of sword fights, wondrous creatures, and an utterly adorable pug. Battlepug manages to deliver the necessary good stuff within the sword-and-sandals genre.
