A gripping read, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #93 (IDW Publishing) steers the riveting suspense with its well-developed character decisions. Before heading towards its celebratory milestone, the TMNT series teases the popular franchise with an upcoming war between good and evil.

The battle for control of New York City begins! As the city splinters into different human, mutant, and ninja factions, the TMNT find themselves in the middle of the chaos! Eight years of storytelling have led to this!

Here are 5 reasons why you should get Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #93:

5) What Happened Before!

The Turtles and Mutanimals are having a difficult time dealing with Slash’s sacrifice. While Slash’s murderer, Agent Bishop, is still out there, he plots his return, Karai makes a surprising decision as Splinter questions his leadership within the Foot Clan.

4) The Writing!

From a story by Kevin Eastman and Bobby Curnow, writer Tom Waltz explores the impending kill count with fan-favorite team-ups. Who has more to lose? Whose death would break Splinter’s heart the most? Shawn Lee’s lettering emphasizes Ralph’s struggle between being loyal to his brothers and seeking revenge for the Mutanimals.

3) The Artwork!

Artist Dave Wachter captures Karai’s cold-hearted calculations with her facial expressions. She has been rejected by Splinter and now threatens everyone he loves. Everyone is on high alert, which is how Wachter illustrates the nerve-wracking tension between Leonardo and Raphael.

2) The Colors!

Interestingly, colorist Ronda Pattison adds something to Karai’s sword to make it look special. You could say the steel always looks like it’s on fire. You could also say the blade always has blood in it.

1) The Beginning!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #93 is a worthy installment that adds drama and excitement. The “City at War” begins here as we start heading towards the #100 issue milestone.
