A solid and exciting installment, G.I. Joe #3 (IDW Publishing) is a fast-paced spy thriller that updates the ‘60s paranoia intrigue. The third installment examines what happens to the everyday people when a government operates on imprudent immunity.
A dangerous mission with unintended consequences will divide the new members of the G.I. Joe team and hammer home just how lethal their new mission is. Meanwhile, Cobra comes closer to wiping out all resistance to its rule!
Here are 5 reasons why you should read G.I. Joe #3:
5) Yo Joe!

Tyranny is on the rise as Cobra has taken control of the government. Ruthless and corrupt power now spreads across the globe. Desperate measures have to be taken as the new G.I. Joe program recruits civilian spies as saboteurs. Rithy Khay never realized being a Joe means taking a brutal beating from Scarlet.
4) The Writing!
Writer Paul Allor explores how deception and charades are part of Joe’s spy game, Lightfoot and Roadblack have a tense scene that’s cleverly meant to be read two different ways. Letterer Neil Uyetake highlights the annihilating irony of the resistance as Roadblack struggles to help others and rebel against tyranny.
3) The Artwork!
The artwork by Chris Evenhuis illustrates the a suspenseful heist sequence as the Joes strike back. Notice how the illustrations capture the speeding Cobra truck across the bridge. In extreme closeups, the Cobra truck swerves recklessly left and right.
2) The Colors!
Notice how colorist Brittany Peer paint’s Cobra’s world in shades of gray. From their factories to their headquarters, Cobra’s reach stands out in gray tones. When Roadblock enters suburbia, the backgrounds are colored in orange tones.
1) A Fun Spy Thriller!
As more of your favorite characters make their appearances, G.I. Joe #3 takes the franchise to a whole new level of intrigue. I love seeing my favorite toys in this type of environment.
G.I. Joe #3 arrives in stores on December 18th, 2019.
