In our exclusive interview, artist Fernando Dagnino describes Ninja-G, “ She already had the sunglasses and the earrings and you could tell from the start that the intention was to portray a modern Pam Greer-ish sort of strong female character. But what I liked most about her is that she is not just a monolithic, strong badass. On the contrary, she has an emotional wound. She has the courage to show herself vulnerable. That’s where her complexity as a character lies.”
4) The Writing!
Writer B. Clay Moore continues Ninja-G’s nonstop search for the murderer who forced her out of early retirement. We now see Ninja-G strategizing a plan as she sneakily recruits Ninja-F, Raleigh Brewster. Letterer Jeff Powell does a great job mixing the dialogue and the sound effects of the action in the opening pages.
3) The Art!
Artist Fernando Dagnino stamps each character design with personality. Notice how Ninja-F flexes his muscles while wearing just a T-shirt. In the opening pages, Dagnino’s illustrations capture the hand-to-hand combat as Ninja-G and Ninja-J dodge, block, and swing kicks at each other.
2) The Colors!
José Villarrubia uses his color palette to capture what time the event takes place. Notice how the entire narrative takes place in 24 hours, from night to day. The red and yellow tones really pop out when a mysterious assassin fires his rocket launcher.
1) An Action-Packed First Issue!
With so much stylish action and cool characters, Killers #2 is one helluva entertaining read. I can’t wait to get my hands on the third issue of Killers!
