A grindhouse-inspired sci-fi/crime drama from Uncork’d Entertainment, Cartel 2045 (aka Juarez 2045) boasts strong performances from the unforgettable Danny Trejo, the charismatic Oscar Olivares, and the dynamic Brad Schmidt! Writer/director Chris Le nails the campy thrills along with the 70s’ feel.

In 2045, the continuing drug war has caused havoc between the United States and Mexico. Gear Side International, a robotics engineering company on the brink of bankruptcy, sells off their technology to the Cartel. With the advanced military robotics technology in the black market, the cartel uses it to their advantage.

Here are 5 reasons why you should see Cartel 2045:

5) Best Of Both Worlds!

The movie manages to cleverly mix the sci-fi elements of Terminator with the satirical crime genre of Breaking Bad. Such a crazy idea but why didn’t anybody think of drug kingpins using killer robots before!?! Cartel 2045 just dives into the craziness full-on and never slows down.

4) Danny Trejo!

The major reason I loved this movie is because of Machete himself, Danny Trejo. Trejo dominates in the role as the mean and cold-hearted cartel leader, Angel Malvado. Trejo’s Angel has such an interesting relationship with his son, Gabriel Malvado, played by Oscar Olivares. I loved watching their father/son dynamic play out on-screen.

3) Carson Wright!

Though the crime drama is a lot more fun, Brad Schmidt’s Carson Wright is still solid enough to deliver the satirical aspects of the narrative. Wright is a fallen Marine ordered to complete one last mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist.

2) That Ending!

It’s such a frenetic over-the-top climax.I don’t want to say too too much but I loved seeing Trejo suit up in a gigantic cybernetic outfit and firing his chain-gun. The special effects team should be applauded for their convincing job in the action-packed finale!

1) Thrilling To The Max!
