5 Reasons We Love Jillian Mueller’s “Porno!”

Crackling with energy and wit, Evoke presents a rip-roaring whirl of horror and comedy in Porno, starring Jillian Mueller and Katelyn Pearce. Director Keola Racela captures the savviness of the ensemble cast and delivers the eye-popping horror effects in jaw-dropping ways. 

When five teen employees at the local movie theater in a small Christian town discover a mysterious old film hidden in it’s basement, they unleash an alluring succubus who gives them a sex education…written in blood.

With such a dynamic presence, Jillian Mueller is witty and charming as her sardonic character, Chaz. Bristling with tenacity and hitting her comedic timing, Mueller portrays such a likable and punkish persona. Mueller’s engaging chemistry with the other cast members, including Glenn Stott and Evan Daves, comes across on-screen. 

Katelyn Pearce doesn’t hold back as she is always on display as the antagonist, Lilith. As the sexy succubus, Pearce presents all sides of her character. What makes Lilith (Pearce) interesting is how she’s seductive and manipulative towards her victim. Undeniably fearless in her performance, Pearce manages to be eerie and erotic at the same time. 

When Chaz (Mueller), Heavy Metal Jeff (Robbie Tann), Abe (Evan Daves), and Ricky (Glenn Stott) are trapped in a room together, watching the live video feed, that’s when the comedy is top-notch. Everybody in the scene is doing something. The cinematography by John Wakayama Carey does a great job capturing the chemistry, the comedic delivery, and everyone’s hilarious reactions.

The screenplay by Matt Black and Laurence Vannicelli has created interesting and likable characters that you want to root for. Director Keola Racela knows how to top each scene with the raunchiness and the practical effects. 

Entertaining from start to finish, Porno is stuffed to the max with gags and scares. The movie succeeds because it has the right actors balancing the horror and comedy.
