Sony Pictures Entertainment has released the official trailer to the highly anticipated Bloodshot, starring Vin Diesel and Guy Pearce. Based on the bestselling comic books from Valiant Entertainment, director Dave Wilson (Love Death + Robots) is about to kickstart a whole new cinematic universe in this action-packed sci-fi flick.
Ray Garrison (Diesel), a soldier recently killed in action and brought back to life as the superhero Bloodshot by the RST corporation. With an army of nanotechnology in his veins, he’s an unstoppable force –stronger than ever and able to heal instantly. But in controlling his body, the company has sway over his mind and memories, too. Now, Ray doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not – but he’s on a mission to find out.
Here are 5 reasons why we love the official trailer to Bloodshot:
5) The Action!
Director Dave Wilson definitely has style as Garrison (Diesel)’s face is shot off in slow motion. Notice the eye-popping red lighting while Garrison takes down an entire covert ops team with his bare hands! I really liked the song of choice here with Johnny Cash’s “Memories Are Made of This.”
4) Groundhog Day!
Originally created in 1992 by Bob Layton, Kevin VanHook, and Don Perlin for Valiant, what’s great about the trailer is that it serves as an introduction to newcomers, while putting Garrison right into the action. The adaptation by screenwriters Eric Heisserer (Arrival) and Jeff Wadlow (Kick Ass 2) twists the Groundhog Day premise and cleverly turns it into a pulse-pounding revenge thriller. How long will Bloodshot realize he’s being used as the same day repeats over and over again?
3) The Team!
The film reunites Diesel with his The Fast & The Furious producer Neal Moritz, who produces alongside Toby Jaffe for Original Film and Dinesh Shamdasani for Hivemind. The production company behind Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of The Witcher, Hivemind is also responsible for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
2) The Ensemble!
The cast includes Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Sam Heughan (Outlander), Lamorne Morris (New Girl), Toby Kebbell (Kong: Skull Island), and Talulah Riley (Westworld). Spot them in the trailer!
1) The Definitive Edition!
Make sure you pick up the comic book that inspired the movie! Make sure you get your hands on the Bloodshot Definitive Edition, which collects the first 13 issues.
Bloodshot #1 arrives in theaters on February 21st, 2020.
