Alan Robert unveils a new trailer for The Beauty of Horror 2: Ghouliana’s Creepatorium – Another GOREgeous Coloring Book (IDW Publishing). Ahead of its official release date, and because sequels are meant to be bigger, the Life of Agony bassist/comic book creator returns with a new volume of original drawings for his horror-themed adult coloring book.

According to Nerdist, the follow-up to last year’s #1 best-selling coloring book promises to include even more macabre art. In the official description, “everyone’s favorite undead girl Ghouliana mischievously attempts to trick budding colorists into unleashing her deadly spell. Try and find the missing ingredients she’s sprinkled throughout Robert’s intricate pen and ink illustrations before it’s too late!”

4. Who Made This Trailer?

The creative team involved includes director Robert Hall, the demented mind behind Laid to Rest and the slasher sequel Chromeskull. The rotting look of undead girl, Ghouliana, and her glowing eyes were done thanks to Hall and his FX/makeup team, Almost Human.

The ominous voice narrating the video is none other than Homeland actress Jane Dashow. Leaving nightmares in your sleep, Ghouliana presses her finger against her lips and shushes your screams, before taking hold of your soul.

3. It Takes One Shot To Wet Your Bed!

Recent horror movies (cough Rings cough) have been overusing their editing tricks and jump scares, failing to fighting their audiences. Notice how the camera sticks to one place, capturing the foreboding background. While the leaves fall slowly onto the dead grass, the creepy little girl swings back and forth.

The spine-chilling photography was done by Brandon Trost, known for Rob Zombie’s Halloween II and Ghost Rider 2. Kudos to editor Josh Petrino for mixing the book’s pages – and spinning them around – with the live-action footage.

2. It’s Got Style Written All Over It!

As the mastermind behind Killogy and Crawl To Me, Robert puts his stamp on the script of the short video, especially with Dashow’s narration. Producer Nick Principe (American Muscle) and executive producers, IDW Publishing, bring the inside pages to life, coloring the ghoulish imagery towards the end of the video.

I know this is an advertisement for the coloring book but man this feels like a short film!
