TNT continues Season 3 of their compelling crime drama, Animal Kingdom, starring Shawn Hatosy and Ellen Barkin, with Episode 3: The Center Will Hold. With Smurf (Barkin) behind bars, can her boys continue their living through armed robberies without her?
When Baz (Speedman) was shot, it was Mia (Sohvi Rodriguez) who pulled the trigger. Mia was the one who killed Baz on that night. Not only did Mia murder Baz, she is also extorting Smurf (Barkin) for money and having sex with J (Finn Cole).
At the prison, Smurf finds herself arguing over a job from a prison inmate. The inmate wants more of the money, to pay her own bills. Smurf demands more of the cut because her boys are doing all the work. Even when they settle on 50/50, the two aren’t happy with their truce.
After latest robbery failed, Deran (Jake Weary) doesn’t want to add another member to his crew. he has a hard time, getting along with Craig (Ben Robson). He ends up taking Craig to the hospital later on. Turns out Craig was coming to collect money from a former friend.

Episode 303- “The Center Will Hold”
While Craig was chasing after his money, his former buddy ran across the rooftops and was about to fall off the ledge. Craig’s shoulder popped just when he was about to pull up his hanging friend.
After dropping off Lena (Aamya Deva Keroles) at school, Pope (Hatosy) checks out the jeep where Baz was murdered. Unable to find any clue, Pope decides to pour gasoline over the jeep and burn the vehicle down. Pope has seen J’s next job but they need more people in their crew; they need Craig and Deran, who aren’t responding to the texts.
At the hospital, Renn (Christina Ochoa) and Craig have a talk about their relationship. Renn didn’t think this was a long-term thing. After trashing and vandalizing a home, Craig tells Deran that he misread the whole situation.
Meanwhile, J has to come rescue Nicky (Molly Gordon) from her drug dealer. Mia has to step in, waving her gun around, when the drug dealer is about to attack them with a baseball bat. Because J wants an extension for Surf’s next payment, Mia will be crashing at his place.
At the back of the bar, Pope tells Deran they need to do another job. Deran says there is no job because there is no family; Smurf is in jail and Baz is dead. Pope argues with Deran that if he doesn’t want the family to fall apart, he should step the hell up.
Smurf watches as the female inmate is taken away by the guards. The guards found drugs in her cell, which violates her charges. This means the female inmate will be locked away in solitary for the next coming months.

After setting up her inmate, Smurf is able to take all the money from the robbery for herself..
