Jam-packed with blood and bullets, Beautiful Canvas #4 (Black Mask Studios) delivers a nerve-wracking conclusion to its fast-paced crime thriller. As we previously mentioned, Beautiful Canvas follows Lon Eisley, a hit-woman hired to kill a small child. Alex. At the same time, Lon gets her latest orders after discovering her girlfriend pregnant. In a bold declaration of uncertainty, she saves the boy and hits the road. Her boss clearly wants the boy dead for a reason and will stop at nothing. This warped crime dystopia dives into the emotional dichotomy of creator/destroyer as Lon attempts to connect the two very different worlds she now inhabits.

1) A Satisfying Conclusion!

Writer Ryan Lindsay ties up all loose ends for his female protagonist. Everything has been leading down to the ultimate showdown. This is the kind of showdown that demands a sacrifice, even when love endures and obliges. Lon Eisley is such a well-developed character; I am definitely going to miss her!

2) The Amazing Artwork!

A callback to the first issue, artist Sami Kivela illustrates the a major action sequence all in one page. The panel layouts capture every detail, point at every dead body, and track every single bullet.

3) Milla!

The fourth issue also reveals the Big Bad in all her glory. In love with death and chaos, Milla definitely gets her own seat at the throne.  Playing around with layouts again, Kivela captures her smile, eyes, before depicting Milla at her seat.

4) The Vivid Colors!

Colorist Triona Farrell highlights the orange and red tones in the action sequences. In the climatic showdown, the green hue plays a major role. The green hue continues to have significance in the final image.

5) A Satisfying Conclusion!

With their kickass female anti-hero, writer Ryan Lindsay and artist Sami Kivela deliver a riveting final installment. Ever since its first issue, Beautiful Canvas continued to be a terrific blend of drama, action, and dark humor.
