Straight out of a horror movie, NBC continues the action-packed Season 4 drama of Blindspot with Episode 17: The Night of the Dying Breath, starring Jaimie Alexander and Sullivan Stapleton. After the shocking events of Season 3, will Kurt Weller (Stapleton) solve the mystery tattoos before its too late for Jane Doe (Alexander)?
When we last left them off, Zapata (Audrey Esparza) and Reade (Rob Brown) worked out their differences to bring down Madeline Burke (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio). But as soon as Madeline was placed under arrest, Jane was suddenly kidnapped. Now the team is on the search for Jane.
While Madeline Burke is under arrest, Patterson (Ashley Johnson) and Rich Dotcom (Ennis Esmer) figure out how Jane was taken hostage. Madeline claims to know nothing as the manhunt continues. Kurt is getting under Reade’s nerves as Jane finally wakes up.
Buried alive, Jane finds herself trapped inside a coffin. She screams out for help, banding on the coffin’s lid. Lucky for her, Jane has a flashlight with her and a cellphone in the other hand. The clock is ticking for the team to find her.
Elsewhere, Madeline’s lawyer (Raoul Bhaneja) shows up at the office, defending his client. While the lawyer stalls the investigation, Patterson guesses how much longer Jane has air to breathe. The team has exactly 39 minutes to find Jane’s whereabouts.
Zapata has a plan but Reade won’t like her idea very much. She wants to use Madeline’s kids as leverage. Madeline has been very protective of her kids, including bribery and making charges go away. Zapata promises the kids will be safe if Madeline cooperates.
Meanwhile, Patterson and Rich are yelling at each other because they are scared. They manage to think up a plan to save Jane. All Jane has to do is make a call from her cell, so they can triangulate the area.
Unfortunately, Jane is under pressure and unable to say calm. Worse, something inside the coffin managed to bite her. Jane doesn’t want the team to give in to Madeline’s demands for immunity.
In a race against time, Kurt grabs a shovel and starts digging. Kurt has to perform CPR on Jane after she lost air. With Jane breathing and alive, Reade manages to betray his word with Madeline and place the charges on her.
Though Madeline is going to jail, that doesn’t mean Helios is done with. With Burke’s assassin in charge, Dominic is going to continue with the next mission.
