STX Entertainment unveils the final trailer for the upcoming Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets before hitting theaters everywhere. Starring Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne, the  sci-fi action-adventure film springs to life with its groundbreaking special effects.

An impending dark force threatens the vast metropolis of Alpha, which happens to be a safe haven to species from a thousand planets. Special operatives, Valerian (DeHaan) and Laureline (Delevingne) must race against the clock to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.

Check out our 5 thoughts on the final trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets here:

5. Luc Besson!

Luc Besson is the critically acclaimed French film director behind The Professional, Nikita, and The Family. One of my personal favorites of Besson’s works is The Fifth Element starring Bruce Willis (Die Hard) and Milla Jovovich (The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc). To see this filmmaker return to the sci-fi genre and adapt the French comic book series Valérian and Laureline by writer Pierre Christin and artist Jean-Claude Mézières, sign me up already!

4. This Movie Looks Damn Expensive!

Just about in every frame, there happens to be a CGI or prosthetic effect! More of special effects reel, is there a plot? I’m hoping this summer movie is going to be fun spectacle. Cara Delevingne exudes sexiness as a Victoria’s Secret Model but as an actress, I really haven’t seen anything she’s capable of. I’m hoping this movie changes that.

3. Both Leads Have Been In Comic Book Movies!

Dane DeHaan was previously in Marc Webb’s second installment of The Amazing Spider-Man reboot. Cara Delevingne was recently seen as the super-villain Enchantress in Suicide Squad! This critic highly recommends readers should go see DeHaan in the powerfully moving drama, The Place Beyond the Pines.

2. Clive Owen’s In Everything!

Clive Owen has worked with just about every top name director you can think of! The Children of Men actor has worked with Spike Lee, Alfonso Cuaron, Tony Scott, Robert Rodriguez, and Steven Soderbergh. Of course he’s going to add Besson to the list!

1. In Glorious 3D!

I’m pretty sure this is the blockbuster movie you have to see in 3D! Knowing Luc Besson is behind this, I’m willing to shell out extra money to put on some 3D glasses!

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets arrives in theaters July 21, 2017.
