Delivering tons of superhero action, Quantum + Woody! #9 (Valiant Entertainment) is the disaster flick that I’ve always wanted to see! The Quantum + Woody series really does wonders with its two head-butting and charismatic protagonists!
For Eric and Woody Henderson – adopted brothers, partners, and the erstwhile superhero twosome known as Quantum and Woody – the world has just turned upside down! Usually, they can’t stand to be near one another…Now, they literally can’t be – or their powers go on the fritz! That definitely makes being a “duo” difficult, especially when a perilous new threat is teaching you just how bad you are at superhero-ing solo!

As we previously mentioned, Quantum and Woody found themselves separated. Living separate lives, Quantum is using his superpowers to save lives. Meanwhile, Woody enjoys hooking up with call girls before breaking down in front of his therapist. By the time they find each other, something from outer-space is raining Hell on Earth!
4) The Writing!
Writer Eliot Rahal delivers a mega-sized disaster that only Quantum and Woody can stop. Wanting to be heroes, Quantum and Woody understand that innocent lives are at stake. With Dave Sharpe’s lettering, readers will get the urgency of the extraordinary situation and the humor behind the brotherly banter.
3) The Artwork!
Putting this out there! I am a huge fan of Morning Glories! Artist Joe Eisma plays around with the horror genre, especially with the man wrapped in bandages. The playful imagery is reminiscent of James Whale’s The Invisible Man. The menacing alien creature that attacks looks something straight out of the Cloverfield series.
2) The Colors!
Colorist Andrew Dalhouse uses a blue palette to foreshadow the climax. In its arrival, the alien creature causes a massive flooding that wipes out city blocks. Notice Quantum and Woody’s costumes are a slightly different shade than the massive flood.

Our unlucky heroes in Quantum + Woody! #9 have to stop an alien apocalypse of epic proportions! I can’t wait to see what happens next in the Quantum and Woody!
