With random clues in place, USA Network has aired 4 out of the 8 riveting episodes of The Sinner, starring Jessica Biel and Bill Pullman. In the limited series event, get ready for a gripping thriller that doesn’t ask the “who” or the “what” — but the “why.”
As we previously mentioned, The Sinner follows a young mother, Cora Tannetti (Jessica Biel), who is overcome by an inexplicable fit of rage. She commits a startling act of violence, but she has no idea why. The investigator, Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman), finds himself obsessed with uncovering the woman’s buried motive. Together they take a harrowing journey into the depths of Cora’s psyche and the violent secrets hidden in her past.
Here are 5 clues we spotted in the first 4 episodes of The Sinner:
5. Clue #1!
In the pilot, the flashbacks play a major role in the narrative, especially as the show examines young Cora (Raegan.Millican)’s relationship with her sister, Phoebe. With her health taking a turn for the worse, Phoebe plays a pivotal role in Cora’s escape from her family.
4. Clue #2
In the second episode, Frankie’s girlfriend in mourning, Maddie (Meredith Holzman), reveals he once mentioned an affair that almost ruined him. There was an incident that happened five years ago.
3. Clue #3
In the third episode, Cora focuses on the wallpaper design and finds herself in a dark room with a masked man. The masked man could either be Frankie or the drug dealer, J.D. (Jacob Pitts), who Mason Tannetti (Christopher Abbott) fought at the bar. Not for nothing, but how cool is it to see Jacob Pitts back on TV after Justified!
2. Clue #4
In the fourth episode, Harry discovers skeletal remains that were buried in the ground. Could these bones belong to Maddie, J.D.’s lover? Is Cora an eyewitness to a violent murder? Perhaps, that’s the reason why Frankie, who has a nurse’s license, kidnapped and drugged her.
1. My Theory!
The flashbacks and present care closing in on Cora. Did Phoebe’s health turn better and she murdered her sister and took Cora’s place? I’m expecting a really big twist that wraps everything together. Maybe Cora/Phoebe witnessed a murder, she was kidnapped later on, and because of her split personality, those violent events have been wiped out. It’s a crazy theory but that’s what I’m going with!
The Sinner continues Wednesdays at 10pm on USA Network.
