Wild and colorful, TMNT: Bebop & Rocksteady Hit The Road #1 kicks off with a hilariously over-the-top adventure! Loud and crazy, Rocksteady and Bebop get to steal the spotlight from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as they trail off onto a road trip full of carnage and mayhem.

Everyone’s favorite mutated masters of mayhem, Bebop and Rocksteady, are road tripping back to NYC! But before they can get started on their journey across America, they run into a crazy old enemy who’s bent on derailing their trip before it can begin!

Here are 5 reasons why you should get TMNT: Bebop & Rocksteady Hit The Road #1:

5) What Happened Before…

To find out what’s been going on with the Turtles and the Foot Clan, check out our review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #84.  There’s no mention of what’s been going on in continuity, so this is a great jumping-on point for new readers! Don’t overthink it because this dysfunctional duo aren’t thinking at all!

4) The Writing!

Writers Ben Bates and Dustin Weaver keep the plot simple with Bebop and Rocksteady; they want to go home. Upping the stakes, the writing duo add monsters, the military, and the government to track down these most wanted mutants. Because Bebop and Rocksteady have such loud and hilarious banter, letterer Shawn Lee exaggerates sound effects and certain words in the dialogue for comedic effect.

3) The Artwork!

Artist Ben Bates illustrates the desert landscape as the setting for this madcap adventure. In her character design, Special Agent Reavenwood looks like a football quarterback who took one too many roids. Bates delivers the action when the dysfunctional duo tackle a giant bat.

2) The Colors!

Colorist Brittany Peer heightens the hues on the purple convertible so that readers can see all the bullet holes and dents. Bebop’s pink hair stands out in the sunny desert. When the setting turns to nighttime, notice how the only light comes from the busted headlights of their car.

1) A Hilarious Read!

Maddeningly funny, TMNT: Bebop & Rocksteady Hit The Road #1 delivers the slapstick action at full scale! I can’t wait to see what happens to Bebop and Rocksteady in the next issue.
